Description
A real rarity, only hand picked large pepper berries can bear the Tellycherry name.
The history of the Karala mountain pepper
The mountain pepper comes from the Malabar Coast in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It does not originate from large plantations but is grown in the remote and very sparsely populated mountain regions of Kerala, which are still largely covered by the original rainforest.
After harvesting, the highland pepper is sun-dried, cleaned and sorted. Free of any pesticides, chemical preservatives or gases, it is shipped directly to Germany after drying.
Black Tellicherry pepper is spicy and has a pleasant flavor. It is particularly suitable for mills and mortars. It adds interesting notes to fish and meat dishes.
