Description
German title: Sansho Pfeffer, ganz
The Sancho pepper comes from the Rutaceae family and is therefore not a real pepper. Earlier this pepper was native only to the central Chinese province of Szechuan. The plant has spread over large parts of South and East Asia and parts of North America. The harvest takes place in August and is dried with the fruit stems. This type of pepper is not very spicy. A certain amount of it can cause a numbness that should not be underestimated.
The spice is mainly used in Asian cuisines. For seasoning satay- or Miso soups, pasta dishes and chicken. It adds a fruity-fresh aroma.
