Description

Airy and fluffy quark cheese dumplings with sugary bread crumbs are a classic dish in Austrian cuisine. They are served either as a sweet main course or a delicious dessert.

This convenient mix by Almstolz is easy to make - even for novices.

Preparation:

  1. Carefully transfer the bread crumbs (top layer of the mix) out of the jar into a bowl.
  2. Mix the remaining ingredients with 50 g butter and 250 g quark cheese in a second bowl.
  3. Professional tip: Leave the mixture in the fridge for about 30 min so that it becomes a little firmer.
  4. Bring plenty of lightly salted water to the boil in a large pot.
  5. With wet hands, shape the dumpling dough into 10 balls.
  6. When the water starts boiling, turn the heat down to medium and let the dumplings simmer in the lightly boiling water for about 8 to 10 min.
  7. Lift the dumplings out of the water one by one, drain and roll in the breadcrumbs.
    Serving tip: Fry the breadcrumbs first in a large frying pan with melted butter until golden brown (stir constantly so that the breadcrumb mixture does not burn!).
  8. Serve with fruit preserves, compote or a sauce of your choice.
