Davert Demeter Real Basmati White Rice, Fairtrade

Its slightly earthy, nutty taste makes Basmati rice a favourite for many Europeans. When cooked, it stays loose and grainy and is ideal for fried rice or as an accompaniment to curries and dals. It is also a popular accompaniment to many European vegetable, fish and meat dishes.

Note: This product is part of the "Khaddar" fair trade project. Basmati rice is grown biodynamically in the Himalayan foothills. With contractually fixed minimum prices, Indian farmers with smallholdings live and work in better conditions. Davert has been in contact with this Fair Trade-certified rice cooperative since 2001.

Preparation: As a side dish for two people, boil 125 g basmati rice in 250 ml water (lightly salted) and then simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

Store in a cool and dry place.
