Dopff au Moulin Cremant d'Alsace AOC Chardonnay Brut 2018

After Champagne, Alsace is now one of the most important regions for sparkling wine in France. The sparkling wines here are known as Crémant and are definitely worth a visit.

This single varietal Chardonnay from Dopff Au Moulin is an absolute pleasure to drink. The effects of two years of bottle fermentation are obvious as it is poured - the wonderful perlage is immediately noticeable. The nose is slightly exotic with noticeable notes of bread and citrus. Very creamy on the palate, with a beautiful texture and very lively acidity with fresh citrus notes and hints of exotic fruit. Very fine, silky perlage, good pressure on the palate. The finish is very harmonious with an aftertaste of fine notes of bitter almond.

A great, single-varietal crémant from Alsace that is proof of how complex sparkling wine can be. Certainly worth trying.
