Dopff au Moulin Crémant d'Alsace Solera 2012-2016

An exquisite Crémant that proves beyond doubt that excellent sparkling wines not only come from France's Champagne region and that the Alsace produces some really top class ones too.

A Chardonnay that combines 6 vintages using the Solera process dating back to 2012. Only about 2,000 bottles have been made, but each one is absolutely special.

The Crémant was allowed to mature in the bottle for almost 3 years before being disgorged. This creates wonderful brioche and honey notes in the nose, paired with hints of citrus. A large glass brings out the aromas even more. Very fine bubbles and really creamy on the palate. The firm acidity ensures a wonderful balance and freshness. A truly impressive sparkling wine that could emerge as the winner in many blind tastings.

An excellent sparkling wine that is in a class of its own, but will undoubtedly be compared to champagne, its famous cousin - as any sparkling wine produced in France inevitably will be.
