Description
The Alsace is famous not only for Riesling but also Gewürztraminer. And that too the most complex representatives of the variety. In, in addition, these come from a Gran Cru vineyard, you can expect a truly powerful wine. The grapes grow at around 275 m above sea level in the 23-hectare Sporen Grand Cru vineyard. The grapes were harvested on 24 October 2016 with a potential alcohol content of 15.5%. After 6 months of ageing on the fine lees, the wine is ready for bottling and further maturation in the bottle.
If you have never drunk a wine of this calibre before, you should know that a wine like this is truly special and benefits from a certain amount of knowledge and experience of wines.
The wine shimmers golden yellow in the glass, very dense, almost oily when swirled with an explosion of aromas on the nose. It has classic Traminer notes, the fragrance of roses, herbs, spices and very fine notes of botrytis. It needs to be allowed to breathe first for its true character to be enjoyed in the glass.
Very full-bodied on the palate, almost heavy, oily, with herbal notes such as thyme and rosemary. Candied fruit, mineral and "fat" in the truest sense of the word. Prominent sweetness and a touch of coolness paired with characteristic muted acidity.
A wine that is thoroughly enjoyable on its own but is also a great accompaniment to mature cheese, foie gras and desserts.
