Description
Airy and fluffy quark cheese dumplings with sugary bread crumbs are a classic dish in Austrian cuisine. They are served either as a sweet main course or a delicious dessert.
This convenient mix by Almstolz is easy to make - even for novices.
Preparation:
- Carefully transfer the bread crumbs (top layer of the mix) out of the jar into a bowl.
- Mix the remaining ingredients with 50 g butter and 250 g quark cheese in a second bowl.
- Professional tip: Leave the mixture in the fridge for about 30 min so that it becomes a little firmer.
- Bring plenty of lightly salted water to the boil in a large pot.
- With wet hands, shape the dumpling dough into 10 balls.
- When the water starts boiling, turn the heat down to medium and let the dumplings simmer in the lightly boiling water for about 8 to 10 min.
- Lift the dumplings out of the water one by one, drain and roll in the breadcrumbs.
Serving tip: Fry the breadcrumbs first in a large frying pan with melted butter until golden brown (stir constantly so that the breadcrumb mixture does not burn!). - Serve with fruit preserves, compote or a sauce of your choice.
