Description

Enjoy a real English tea time at home? Nothing could be easier! These scones are quick and easy to prepare. One tin makes approx. 6 organic scones that go perfectly with tea or coffee.

All you need is

  • 75 g soft butter
  • 1 egg
  • 130 ml cold milk
  • optional: 60 g frozen fruit

Preparation:

  • either take 75 g butter out of the fridge 1-2 hours before use or heat in the microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Preheat the oven to 165 °C hot air.
  • whisk 1 egg in a glass.
  • Remove the sachet with the cinnamon sugar and set aside.
  • Open the freshness seal and pour the baking mixture into a large bowl.
  • Add the softened butter together with 130 ml cold milk (see milk line in the tin) and half of the whisked egg to the baking mixture and knead the dough by hand, with a food processor or with the Thermomix (using the spatula for 20 seconds/speed setting 6).
  • Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead briefly.
  • Variant without fruit: Now shape the dough into a circle, it should be approx. 23 cm in diameter and 2 fingers wide.
  • Variation with fruit: Roll out the dough with a rolling pin (approx. 40 cm x 23 cm), top with the desired frozen fruit, fold the piece of dough once and then shape into a circle, it should be approx. 23 cm in diameter and 2 fingers wide.
  • Cut the dough into triangles with a large knife, place the individual pieces on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush with the second half of the whisked egg.
  • Sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture from the sachet.
  • Bake the scones for 24 minutes at 165 °C and enjoy while still warm. Store in a dry place and not above 24 °C.

Tips:

  • Variation with fruit: Suitable frozen fruits are, for example: Raspberries, blueberries or wild berries.
  • Freeze: The ready-baked scones are perfect for freezing. To defrost, simply place in the microwave for one minute. The scones can be enjoyed as they are or in typical English style with mascarpone and jam.
