Description

The characteristic golden color is known to those who have desperately tried to remove it from their fingers and cutting board after cooking. Turmeric-containing foods are not only pretty to look at, but have a nice, slightly woodsy-floral scent. Curry often contains turmeric, which is why the smell is reminiscent of a curry. Turmeric tastes sweet at the beginning with a bitter note and ends with an earthy finish.

Tips and Accessories:
The powerful yellow of turmeric gives any dish an enticing color. It is used as a dye for cheeses, margarine and mustard mixtures. It is a great spice for rice dishes, stews and lentils and harmonizes well with eggplant, spinach, chicken and fish. Tip: In order to intensify the flavor, it is recommended to heat the spice in vegetable oil or ghee (clarified butter) and whip the mix until it foams slightly. This should be done before adding other ingredients.
