The Patagonia Canelo Pepper Berry is actually not "real" pepper at all. The dark purple berries grow on the Magellanic Winter Bark (Drimys winteri) - a shrub up to 20 m high.

At first, the sweet, fruity taste notes and the aroma similar to cinnamon dominate. Only gradually does the sharpness come to the fore - like the Andaliman pepper, it has a mild numbing effect on the tongue.

Note on usage: The extraordinary aroma of Stay Spiced! Patagonia Canelo Pepper goes particularly well with red meat and game. But thanks to its fruity-sweet cinnamon aroma, it is also an exciting ingredient in fruit and chocolate desserts. In any case, you should always only add berry pepper to your dishes at the end of preparation. We also recommend that you do not grind the berries in a pepper mill - the aroma develops best when the berries are coarsely crushed or chopped.
