It's almost impossible to imagine summer without barbecues, parties and get-togethers! Long sunny days are inseparable from good food enjoyed in the company of family and friends. Whether it's hearty grilled steaks, tasty veggie burgers, crunchy vegetables, fresh fruit or light salads, the list of foods popular at summer parties is long.

But the one dish that's a firm favourite at a summer party in the Czech Republic? Homemade potato pancakes! They are the culinary highlight of any summer gathering and are a scrumptious crowd-pleaser. That's why this time we present a quick and easy recipe you can try out at home!

Ingredients:

• 750 g potatoes
• 80 g plain flour
• 200 ml milk
• 6 cloves of garlic, crushed
• 2 tablespoons dried marjoram
• ½ teaspoon ground cumin
• 1 tablespoon of oil
• 1 egg
• Salt

Method:

1. Coarsely grate the potatoes and add the crushed garlic. Add all the other ingredients and mix well.
2. Heat the oil in a pan. Shape the grated potato mixture into small pancakes and fry on both sides until golden brown.
3. Drain excess oil from the cooked potato pancakes and serve warm.

Tip: Potato pancakes taste particularly delicious when served with a cold drink.
