Description

These high-quality, sun-dried cloves are from the Lake Periyar National Park in the Indian jungle. The cloves are harvested and dried by farmers in the tribal communities there and are harvested using traditional methods. Furthermore, the cloves are grown in controlled environmental conditions and are fairly traded. Neither man nor nature is exploited.

The bud of the clove tree is harvested and then gently dried. It contains essential oils, has an intense sweet odor and is pungent in taste. The proceeds of the clove sales benefit the tribal communities of the farmers. In this development project social institutions such as kindergartens, schools and hospitals are funded. Who would have thought that it would be so easy to do something good while eating?

Cooking with organic jungle cloves
Cloves can be brewed as a delicious and healthy tea, and are used in mulled wine and gingerbread. Curry also benefits from cloves. The spice is often used South Indian curries and Sri Lankan cuisine. Used carefully, it also complements fish and meat dishes. However, only the bud should be consumed because the stems taste bitter. In soups and hot drinks cloves are simply thrown in and boiled before being removed from the final dish.
