Description
The Petit Verdot red grape is rarely if ever cultivated in Austria. However, the Triebaumers planted this variety for research purposes in 1999 and have now bottled a limited, small quantity as a single varietal wine.
Matured in used 300-litre wooden barrels, this red wine shows what the variety is also capable of when cultivated in Austria. Dark purple with a cherry rim in the glass. Coriander, mint and graphite lead on the nose with thins of game and ink. Dark chocolate flavour with robust tannins, the likes of which are rarely seen. A wine you'll want to savour a few times.
Still a rarity, but climate change might cause things to change.
