Weingut Günter u. Regina Triebaumer Verd.o (Petit Verdot) 2020

The Petit Verdot red grape is rarely if ever cultivated in Austria. However, the Triebaumers planted this varietal for research purposes in 1999 and have now bottled a limited, small quantity as a single varietal wine.

Matured in used 300-litre wooden barrels, this red wine demonstrates what this variety is capable of even when cultivated in Austria. Dark purple with a cherry rim in the glass. Coriander, mint and graphite lead on the nose with hints of game and ink. Dark chocolate notes with robust tannins, the likes of which are rarely seen. A wine you'll reach for again and again.

Still a rarity, but climate change might cause things to change.
