The BBQ Rub "Hamburg" is the quintessential house marinade and should be in every good kitchen. Inspired by American BBQ recipes and German butcher spices, a total of 14 ingredients make their way into our hamburger BBQ Rub. Sweet paprika and smoked paprika fit perfectly with garlic and onions and various peppers. Rounding out the barbecue seasoning are bay leaves, coriander and thyme - you can taste it yourself! Marinades or "BBQ Rubs" are spices that are used for flavoring meat. Usually one marinates meat before grilling it, but fried, baked or steamed meat also tastes good when marinated.

The Ankerkraut meat marinades are made with oil (we like to use olive oil), water, red wine or beer. If you like exotic food, experiment with using honey, lemon juice or jam. Anything goes, as long as it tastes good! Complete your spice blend, then rub onto meat. Do not worry, the flavors of beef, pork, poultry and exotic meats (try wild game sometime) can all be refined using Ankerkraut BBQ Rubs. It is best to let the meat marinate overnight in the refrigerator, but if you are in a pinch the meat should marinate for at least 30 minutes. Even vegetarians can use our Rubs with vegetables or cheese for the grill. Particularly tasty recommendations include zucchini, peppers, eggplant, feta or halloumi cheeses.
