There are two traditional Christmas cakes in Italy:
- Panettone: a yeast cake, classically flavoured with raisins and candied citrus fruits
- Pandoro: a golden yellow yeast cake made without fruit
To make the "Tostatelle" toast, slices of the Panettone and Pandoro cakes are baked in the oven. You can nibble the delicious slices like you would a biscuit or biscotti or enjoy them for breakfast.
